One in four women are contemplating downshifting or leaving the workforce

After years of pounding on the glass ceiling what could create this sudden exodus?

Although women continue to be underrepresented at every level in corporate America, over the past five years our numbers in senior leadership has started to grow.

This year’s annual report from Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In and McKinsey & Company, shows that a whopping one in 4 women are weighing the choice of downshifting or abandoning the workforce due to the additional life pressures created by the coronavirus. The report includes lack of job flexibility, homeschooling and an average 20 hours additional housework.

As a humorous, motivational, keynote speaker, I have witnessed the value of initiating programs into the workday that encourage and motivate employees lifting engagement levels and strengthening morale.

What are some immediate and effective ways that senior management can lessen this burden and make their female employees feel valued during these uncertain times?
